Plot of the movie:
Ray Eddy (Melissa Leo) works as a part time worker in Yankee One Dollar Store near frozen river. She earns a scanty income. Ray Eddy's (Melissa Leo) husband abandoned her and their two sons, T. J. (Charlie McDermott) and Ricky (James Reilly) after plundering their meagre savings.

Ray Eddy (Melissa Leo) encountered a hard time to run the family. She partners with Lila Littlewolf (Misty Upham), a lady involved in smuggling illegal immigrants from Canada to Unites States. Ray Eddy (Melissa Leo) braves to drive the illegal immigrants over frozen river to a remote motel on the other border. A handful of cash is exchanged for this illegal act.
