Panchamirtham
The movie Panchamirtham portrays a mix of interesting events occurring in two different time periods. A small part of Ramayana is fine tuned by the story writer to connect it with the present generation. The movie has an overwhelming sequence of magical and comical scenes to stick the audience to their seats. Every movie watcher would hope to have complete relaxation and enjoyment while watching a movie. Panchamirtham is one such movie belonging to this genre which can be credited to have such qualities.
Plot of the movie:
Nasser is a powerful business magnate with scores of riches in his name. Like always portrayed in kollywood cinemas, this movie too contains two lazy and cunning characters(relatives) who mince money from the rich business owner. But unfortunately for them this activity couldn't last longer. Saranya Mohan takes charge as Nasser's assistant and blocks the unaccounted flow of money. The two relatives get furious and decide to get rid of her forever. They bank on professional killers to assassinate Saranya Mohan. During an outing a professional killer pushes Saranya from the top of a mountain. While falling off from the mountain she collides with the rock statue of Mareechan thereby bringing him alive. Mareechan narrates his own story to her. The story dates back to the period of Ramayana. Mareechan was forced to visit the ashram of Sri Ram, in the disguise of a deer, by Ravana and Idumba, to provoke Sita to come beyond Laxman Rekha to enable Ravana to abduct her. Mareechan disguised as a deer falls prey to the arrow of Sri Ram, but while dying transforms Idumba into an anklet and wears it on his leg. Mareechan gets transformed into a rock sculpture. Mareechan looses his anklet while taking his original form. The anklet gets immersed in a river and is later swallowed by a fish.

Nasser plays a double role, one as a rich man and the other as a fisherman. Nasser traps the anklet-swallowed fish in his net. Back home the fisherman cuts the fish to find the anklet. Idumba regains his original form and Nasser comes to know of his previous birth as Ravana.
The old conflict gains momentum yet again and continues. In the meantime Mareechan saves the life of Saranya and stands beside her to end the injustice meted out to her.
